Making and Breaking the Basics

Aside

The issues I was having with the Scorescreen appear to be resolved. I noticed that when I was exiting the Scorescreen, I was not removing the function to change the Screen on “Tap”, so the function was carrying across the pages. When that SINGLE LINE OF CODE was resolved, those bugs were sorted. I still wish to have the answer options as buttons with the labels as the answers but I am finding this a tad difficult. I will sort this in time.

The base function of the quiz works. That is what is important for now.

Regarding the Basics, I managed to get the top Scroll List option to actually work and use Storyboard to go to a different option using an IF funtion in the Tableview.lua.

However this is a quick fix and I will have to try and get it to work on the BasicsMenu page as opposed to the Tableview page. My function is relying on being able to get the programme to reconise which number on the array I am clicking when I click it. When I get it to do that, I can then get it to Storyboard to a different page when it recognises that specific number.

Beta Testing 3

Aside

Today I beta tested the third edition of the App Prototype with people in my Kenpo group. I would give them the laptop and open the Corona Simulator. I would also provide them with a Word Document providing quests (find your belt) and questions regarding the look of the app, the interface and if it was understandable.

I realised a few things. On the plus side; People really like the app, There was already friendly competition between the few people who tried the app regarding the quiz and the interface is exceedingly simple to understand

On the negative side: There was a bug regarding the scorescreen.

After the person is finished the quiz, and then goes to the belt section, when they get onto any of the belt pages with a scrolling function and TAP the screen, the screen disappears and goes to the Quiz Menu.

It is not a case of going to the last page, as the person had to click on the belt menu to get to the belt options.

Another part of the bug is that when the person has been put onto the Quiz Menu, and they click on any of the buttons to pick a belt quiz, they are then sent back to the Belt selection menu as if nothing happened.

By the end of the evening, I had managed to stop the Quiz Menu from going back to the Belt Selection page and actually proceed onto the Quiz that is chosen. But the rest of the bug remains.

THIS GUY!

This guy is a champ! HE was brought in by Hugh to teach us Corona and I am TOTALLY making the app in this language. He spent two weeks teaching us the programme and to be honest, I picked it up so quickly and understood the logic so quickly that I am already making it in my head. I have already constructed the YellowBelt.Lua page DURING class time.

The idea of the quiz was terrifying me in regards to HTML or HTML5 but when I mentioned it to Eoghan, he and I came up with a great way to make a quiz and after 15 minutes, it made SENSE!

Now, my understanding of this programming language completely came off the back of working with HTML and Charlie Cullen drilling into us that we need to understand WHY as well as WHAT we are coding.

But more importantly, this guy! My Major Project has an end!
