I had a presentation for the project in front of a class and in front of a panel of lecturers who decide if I have done enough work over the Summer. I was always paranoid that since I was on my own that I was going to suffer because of it.
This was not the case.
I have seen a few groups suffer over the Summer as they have issue A or B show up and then it all comes to a head during the presentation as it is obvious who has done the work and who has not.
Some of the presentations were amazing, some of the games, it was clear the team work was done and each member pulled their weight and this project will be a success, others, games and otherwise, just fell short of the hurdle. It was sad to see as the only people they have to blame is themselves.
Other peoples presentations fell flat, but their level of work and detail could be seen and that was ok and accepted. Others, it was clear that they need help and supervision and still have the mental maturity of some students in secondary school who need to be fed and regurgitate answers and have deadlines GIVEN TO THEM. This is not what college is for, it is to learn how to ingratiate yourself into the real world, following your own deadlines.
I presented on my own, so I didn’t have to explain who did the work, any pitfalls were my own and I only had myself to blame. While there were areas I need to work on and clear jobs I have to achieve, they seemed quite happy with the progress so far and could definitely see where I was going, what I did and why I did it. I had a backup video of my presentation, screen shots of the app on my phone to showcase text on the phone so I covered a lot of aspects that other students were being asked ahead of me, so yay.
Lesson Learned: Always have a back up video on a USB just in case your presentation will not work on someone else’s computer.
